Galerie One inaugurated its showroom with an exhibition bringing into dialogue two major figures of contemporary urban art: Escif and Banksy.
Born in Valencia, Escif is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in Spanish street art. Both poetic and socially engaged, his work is characterised by remarkable visual restraint while thoughtfully exploring the social, political and environmental issues of our time. Rejecting spectacle in favour of subtlety, Escif embraces an approach in which humour, metaphor and the simplicity of line invite contemplation and critical reflection.
Alongside him, Banksy, the iconic and internationally acclaimed figure of urban art, has established himself through anonymous interventions that combine satire, social criticism and political engagement. His now-iconic works challenge power structures, conflict, consumerism and inequality, making him one of the most influential artists of his generation. Galerie One specialises in Banksy's work and has, for many years, advised and supported collectors and institutions in the acquisition and understanding of his oeuvre.
This inaugural exhibition created a subtle dialogue between the artistic worlds of these two artists through a curated selection of graphic works, ink drawings and watercolours.
